Our Mission
FundScrip's mission is to make the world a better place by helping more non-profit groups reach their fundraising goals than anyone else by offering easy to manage, effective programs and solutions that maximize value for supporters and our suppliers.
We have an ambitious mission and we recognize that many people involved will play critical roles in helping us achieve it.
We understand that our members entrust us with their important assets from grocery & gas money to fundraising donations to brand reputation to personal information and so on. They also put their trust in us to keep our promises to them. To this end, we pledge to protect these assets and follow-through on our promises to each.

Our History
FundScrip began in Montreal, Quebec in 2004 as a unique program targeting parents who wanted to save money for their children's education. Using virtually the same model we use today, parents would buy gift cards to pay for their everyday purchases to raise cash donations towards their children's RESP's.
The program has since evolved to become a general fundraiser for groups as diverse as schools, churches & other faith-based organizations, sports teams & clubs, charitable foundations, community & service groups, etc.
We look forward to expanding this list even more with the many new features and improvements we have scheduled for the platform.
What is Scrip?
Scrip is any substitute for currency that is not legal tender - like a Gift Card!
Scrip was originally created as a way for companies to pay their employees in remote coal towns or occupied countries in war time where regular money was unavailable. Modern forms of scrip include gift cards, subway tokens, arcade tokens, tickets, and "points" on some websites.
In the late 1980s, the term scrip evolved to include a fundraising method popular with non-profit organizations like schools, churches, bands and athletic groups. With scrip fundraising, gift cards are sold to non-profit organizations with a donation for every card purchased. The non-profit organizations sell the gift cards to supporters at face value. The supporters redeem the gift cards at face value, and a percentage is donated to the non-profit organization. FundScrip is a 21st century version of scrip fundraising.
By leveraging the efficiencies of online transactions and modern shipping capabilities, FundScrip has created an easy-to-use Canadian fundraising platform whereby fundraising groups of any kind can enroll and encourage their supporters to buy gift cards for the things they are already buying, from the retailers where they are already shopping, raising much needed contributions for their group's goal.
